Toots started riding at 18 months, thrown aboard her first partner in crime, "Dinky Doodles". Since then, very few days have passed where she has not been surrounded by and riding the horses she loves. With her father a former Joint Master of the Avon Vale Hunt, it is unsurprising that her early days were filled with pony club rallies and early morning starts for hunting, where undoubtedly her love for cross country was ignited. Further fuelled, no doubt, by her stint as a jockey in the Shetland Grand National.
With the help of her incredibly supportive parents and adopted godfather Anthony (her riding mentor since she was three), it wasn't long before we were travelling across the country for Pony Club Championships and BE events.
Toots represented the South West at the U18 Championships in 2015, 16 and 17, and in 2018 was long-listed for the Junior Europeans on Candyman Leanorth after a string of stand out performances, including wins in OIu21's and 2nd place at Millstreet CIC**L.
Toots completed her A levels at Millfield School in 2019, having been a Sports Scholar throughout. Toots was a member of the first team in multiple sports playing both Hockey and Netball nationally and also Cross Country running. Having completed her academic qualifications alongside a Diploma in Sporting Excellence (BE/Hartpury) she has now begun concentrating on a professional career in eventing.
Her newfound time and commitment to her horses were rewarded with a string of eight consecutive double clears at intermediate and advanced level with top horse C Why, and she was thrilled to finish in the top half at the Blenheim 8/9yo CIC****S championships, as the youngest competitor at just 18 years old.
Her achievements were acknowledged by World Class in 2019, awarding her a place on Equestrian Team GBR's World Class Podium Potential Pathway; a huge opportunity for any young athlete and one Toots is very proud of and unbelievably grateful for.
With an incredibly exciting string of horses, Toots is looking forward to what the upcoming season holds. Her immediate sights are set on campaigning her younger horses and gaining her five-star qualification on her top horse.
She especially has her eyes set on Badminton, after competing in the Shetland Grand National there in 2010 and the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Grassroots Championships in 2016. She hopes she could be the first rider to complete the hat-trick.
A truly family run professional event yard, Toots is based at her family home in beautiful Somerset. With the help of her family and wonderful team, and spoilt by incredible facilities, it is the perfect place for Toots to grow as she strives to represent her country.
